Thirst for revenge

Thirst for revenge

Dawn.com invites readers to debate current affairs in this forum.

The recently released khateeb of Islamabad’s Lal Masjid Maulana Abdul Aziz has said that the situation that has emerged in the troubled areas of Swat, Buner and Dir is a reaction to the military operation conducted against the mosque in 2007. He claimed that most of the students of Lal Masjid who suffered due to the operation hailed from Malakand division of the Frontier province and were now taking their revenge. ‘I had warned the then government not to go for the military operation on the mosque otherwise the situation would get out of control and I will not be responsible for the reaction,’ said Maulana Aziz in an interview with Dawn.

In light of Maulana Aziz’s comments, do you think military operations in Buner and Dir are inadvisable? Will initiatives by security forces simply create a new army of revenge seekers? How can army operations be conducted so as not to have a negative fallout in the future? Or what other options should the Pakistan government consider in the northern and tribal areas?

it is very clear from the situation that sufi muhammad and TTp are on the same page, there objectives are very clear, they exploit the people for there favor because they also need people support.the question is how to tackle these people.
first of all we have to remove people support from them.
    by using media,
the ulema who are against the people,
by fulfilling major demands of that area,

second thing that we should do is to launch a high frequency intelligence operation and a low frequency military operation.

Dir and Buner’s operation were inevitable if i place my self into the situation as a resident,i would like the government to take action severe or moderate with respect to the circumstances.Talibans were forcing the civilians to live their lives according to their ideology and there was no point to enter Buner as well so they were simply cheating the government, while the Lal Masjid operation was particularly different from this one in this manner that there was still space for dialogue and restrictions considering its importance.
As far as Fallouts are concerned they are expected indeed but they are not unavoidable too.

Looking at the present critical situation in sawat and other part of the pakistan, no doubt it is a outrage of mass killing of innocent girls, youths, and samll kids, who were the sisters, daughters, sons, and brothers of some one.The dictator responsible for this is at large freely walking and talking saying that “only 94 persons were killed inthat lal masjid operation,it means that killing of 94 persons is not important, and they were not humanbeing?-Ali
