My sincerest condolences to the families affected by this tragedy. I think suicide bombings and related terrorist attacks are beyond government’s control. Regardless of how many security officials are on duty or how ever check points are in place. Suicide bombings and terrorist attacks of this nature are nearly impossible to predict and control.

In my opinion, the only way this madness can be controlled and stopped is via the vigilance and prompt action of civilians. It is a well known fact in emergency response community that the first and the best action is generally taken by common civilians. Whether it be an accident, terror attack, or prevention of an eminent attack. Consider the example of recent incident of the Nigerian bomber (US airlines) who was stopped by the swift actions of passengers.

My proposal is that civilians in metropolitan areas (or areas affected by terrorism) create neighborhood watch groups. Neighborhood watch, are small groups of local residents that report any suspicious activities to law enforcement. Furthermore, these groups can watch out for houses or religious institutions being used as base camps. I am pretty certain that suicide bombers must temporarily be housed in our neighborhoods, where they are equipped with home made bombs. If we can catch these terrorists before they hit the streets we can save thousands of lives.

I just wana say,,being Shia,I also feel greive and anger, but we should recgonize our enemies,,and dont let them to control us…we should not harm irrelevant people..

  3. Kazmi says:

Not holding a juloos would mean giving in to the terrorists. A much better option would be to continue our daily way of life, and let’s focus on educating and rooting out the people who do these acts.

Very sad news. My heart is weeping blood tears. Very shocking incident but predictable given the current situation in Pakistan. I think people of Pakistan should be very careful and cancel all such religious activities and gatherings that make them soft targets for barabric terrorists. It is yet another attempt to create schism amonge mostly peaceloving and peaceful Pakistanis. But, Inshallah, Pakistanis are wise enough to know the insidious attempts of enemies of Pakistan and Islam. This incident will unite all Pakistanis and not divide, God Willing. My deep heart condolences for all who were martyred or injured in this brutal act of terrorism.

    As-salam,

I am deeply sad with this tragic event taking place in Karachi especially on 10th of Moharram. The people who are with these terrorists should be HANGED these people are not Muslims these are the same people Imam Hussain fought to save Islam.

Pakistan will very soon see a REVOLUTION that will eradicate this menace….All my prayers and thoughts are with the families and individuals who experienced this horrific attack.

  7. SAM says:

Yet another manifestation of savagery by the monsters called militants.

  8. Avatar says:

Very unfortunate loss of life – sympathies to families of the bereaved.

Wonder how any belief can justify this kind of senseless violence.

Humans are acting worse than animals.

Pakistanis please wake up and take control of the situation.

  9. riaz says:

  10. Shahji says:

Wake UP Pakistani’s before you will have no country left to call home. So sad what happened today and what is happening to our beloved country.

  11. S. Haider says:

Being a shia muslim myself my heart bleeds for the mourners who died in this barbaric act. The government should eleminate these fundamentalists from our society. Whats happening in Karachi now is like playing in terrorists hands, this is what they want( no disrespect for the people who lost their loved ones). All of us should remain calm and follow the example of Hazrat Imaam Hussain(A.S)

  12. Abu Bakr Mooman says:

Sunnis and Shias stand together globally against such insanity. It is important that we the mjority stand up and support the socalled minority Shia community when such events occur. We are all sufferers of such calamities.

My condolences to the families that lost.

  13. hasan says:

Very sad news. But knowing the events from past few days and yesterday in Kashmir, this jaloos should have been canceled. It is impossible for security forces to control such large gathering.
Now so many have lost their livelihoods after their shops have been burnt and so on.
Any kind of jaloos should not be allowed until the security improves in country. It is not worth to loose one innocent soul
