  1. Imran says:

I think this is a blessing in disguise. Younus Khan was not performing and his captaincy skills were now being affected. Pakistan needed a young-blood captain (like Shahid Afridi).

  2. sharjeel says:

i don’t think younis khan realizes the impact it will have on Pakistan cricket.

  3. teetoo says:

After such a long time we had a real captain who was able to gel the boys together as a team and they have forced him to resign with their baseless allegations.
He is the first cricket captain after Imran Khan who has won a World title for the country and look at the way he is treated. Even reaching the semis of the Champions Trophy was no small feat by any standards!

  4. Syed Siddiq Hussain says:

In my opinion Mr Dasti is just out for cheap publicity by wrongly accusing the Pakistan team of match fixing and then comically withdrawing the allegations . He has no evidence about match fixing so he should just do the more important work that our parliamentarians are supposed to do but never get round to doing , which is to run this country.

I think Ijaz Butt should return Younis’s resignation , he has started to turn the team around because he is an honest man who calls a spade a spade. The team has won the T 20 World Cup and has reached the semi finals of the Champions Trophy under his captaincy. We dont need Mr Dasti to derail all the good work done by Younis. We were no hopers in the Champions Trophy and still Younis led us to the semi finals . No other country in the world accuses their country’s team of match fixing when they have performed admirably to reach the semi final in the first place . This sort of thing only happens in Pakistan .

India got knocked out in the first round of the Champions Trophy , no one accused Dhoni of match fixing .

As a nation we must realise that there is always a winner and a loser in a game , and there is no shame in losing if we fight and lose , whcih is what the Pkistan team did in the Champions Trophy .

Well done Younis , we don’t want you to become another casualty at the hands of these incompetent parliamentarians , please take your resignation back and lead Pakistan to futher glories , God willing

  5. Usman Malik says:

I rarely follow cricket in detail but whatever I have seen of YK has been great performance!

Politicians should be barred from poking their noses in sports! For God’s sake it is cricket not National Security (which by the way no one wishes to debate in NA!).

  6. Eeman says:

Pakistan doesn’t even spare “Cricket” from dirty politics.

  7. Rauf says:

Jamshed Dasti should himself resign or atleast publicly apoligize to Younis for foolishly giving any credibility to stories published in Indian tabloids. In my opinion Younis has 200% more credibility than the entire parliament!

I hope Younis re-considers his decision and come back to captain Pakistan thru the 2011WC.

  8. Ahmad Hassan says:

it is not good if Younas Khan has resigned only to weaken the team. He has served Pakistan cricket with some great moments and the nation cannot forget him. He is and he will remain a national hero as he lives in hearts of the cricket lovers. What will Dasti have to show for his baseless allegations?

  9. imran says:

I think wrong person has resigned.

Educated and sensible people must join politics otherwise these things will never stop.

I am 100% sure there was no match fixing and I can really feel how parliaments comments have hurt Younis Khan.

I pray for my Beautiful Country Pakistan.

    Love Pakistan Love Cricket

  10. It is sad to see a captain going away. It is sad to see politicians interfering in an area about which they know nothing. But Younus Khan is out of form since sometime; may be it better to give chance to a successful batman. We do need good batsmen!

  11. Hammad says:

The lack of competence once again is evident from another one of our so called leaders. Ironic that Dasti is probably the greatest believer in the team to suggest that the only way Pakistan could have lost it’s matches in the Champion’s trophy is by throwing them away.

The immature attitude of this parliamentarian has seriously undermined the semblence of a team, who happen to be our only ambassadors to the world at large. Admiration was abundant from international spheres about Pakistan’s abundance of fresh talent, their resolve after being out of the game so long and Younis’s ability to gel an enigma of a team.

Dasti should be the subject of a suo moto notice as well as a public hearing on his accusations.

Younis has shown a lack of courage by resigning and so has our team by not standing by its captain when most required. I hope Shahid Afridi’s meeting is a false rumour and not one that will create chisms in the team at the worst of times.

  12. A Cricket Enthusiast says:

It is hard to understand Younis Khan. One feels sorry for him at times. He always gets himself entangled in these emotional exercises and makes a mockery of his reputation as a generally steady individual. He’s a wonderful asset to the team. However, it is high time now that he understands that Pakistan cricket is a can of worms where the political jokers and the military strongmen call the shots. We heard him giving out sensationally emotional statements during the recently concluded Champions Trophy pertaining to his injury and his passion to play for the country. Enough of that already! Face the reality, Mr. Khan, and move on. The game will stay politicized forever. Therefore, you are either in it or stay out of it. Don’t get emotional, get real brother!

  13. Faheem says:

It is Dasti who should resign not Younas. Dasti should be called in the court to explain why he put allegation against Pakistan Captain and team.

  14. Shafaq says:

The breaking news just made me realize why I lost interest in cricket after Imran Khan – because of these low life plolitics.

  15. Akhtar Hassan says:

I do not understand how these people are given such important positions and by whom. Instead of the cricketers such people should be taken to task. Let us take the example of South Africa. They did not even qualified for the Semi Final in their own country but the the first statement we heard from there was that jobs of Coach and Captain are secure. Why can’t we show the world that we are also sensible and educated. By the way what are the credentials of Mr Dasti?

  16. Meher says:

Well, I think the Australian Umpires (who umpired our game) should be questioned. Why is it that we always find fault in ourselves, why can’t anyone see that the umpires were incompetent!

  17. Nisar says:

Its pathetic to see pakistani politicians blaming their own countrymen for fixing matches. Come on, we were all watching the match and at no point did we feel if the match was fixed. I am a huge admirer of Younis Khan mainly because he is not into dirty politics like his Ex captains were in the past. He is an amazing character who has given his all on the field and backs his players to bring out their best and if this is the way he has to leave then i would really be ashamed to call myself a paskistani supporter.
I Sincerely wish all the current & former Pakistan players come out in support of Younis Khan just because he doesnt deserve to be treated this way even after being a loyal servant to pakistan cricket for nearly a decade.

  18. TJB says:

What Younis did is absolutely right. How can Dasti question the teams intentions unless he has evidence to back his statement? Sombody should also force him to resign not from only the committee but from the parliament for bringing Pakistan cricket into disrepute.

  19. jamal nasir says:

In my opinion, if Dasti has any shred of self respect – which may be asking too much from a parliamentarian – he should at least have the decency to apologize for the allegation and resign from his chairmanship. I respect Younis for what he has done – he does not deserve this.

  20. Fasih says:

Disappointing although knowing Younis Khan his resignation is not surprising. To his credit,he is one of those rare Pakistani cricketers who can claim that he was holding the side together as a unit under his leadership. That in itself is a big acheivment as a leader of the national team. Wins or losses are bound to happen so are (crucial) mistakes. The country’s politicians are using cricket to propogate their ‘kursi’ centred agendas. If they donot have proof of match fixing they should stay away from throwing up such allegations.

  21. Younis Khan, stay, face the critics and do what you are doing now with even more trust that Allah will help you to prove that you are a very good captain.
It is very very sad and we do not want see the team go down again. This is sad, not just sad very very sad.
PLease all cricketers advise Younis Khan and keep him.

    wasalaam

  22. Malik says:

It is sad. Younis Khan is emotional and this is I think third or fourth time he has resigned as captain.

On the other hand, the NA Sports Committee under Dasti should have left the captain in peace.

  23. Zeeshan says:

If Younis’ resignation is accepted it will be very sad indeed. I too ask for the “evidence” of match-fixing be made to the public. We are the fans and we have a right to see both sides of the story. If Mr. Dasti is wrong, then I hope that justice will be served and Pakistan cricket can continue to improve as it has done in the last few months under Younis’ captaincy. Reaching the semis of tournament like the Champions Trophy is a big achievement and credit should be given to the cricketers.
    May justice prevail!!

  24. mehmood says:

just to say our country side cricket loosing very good captin.
    Mehmood

  25. Kamal Khan Virk says:

What a shame!! Politicians now trying to destroy the only ray of hope in the lives of Pakistanis. Instead of encouraging our players, we humiliate and demoralise them. This is how nations treat their heroes?
