It is sad state of affairs. Bishen Bedi in a recent interview very rightly said that Pakistani’s are like Shaikh Chilly’s becuase the will cut the branch they are sitting on.

Get rid of these politicians who have different agendas. Younis Khan is an honourable man and will not underake such an act of thorwing the match.

  2. Annie and Dawood says:

Younis should not have resigned despite the drama orchestrated by Dasti. He should have responded to the allegations thoroughly and channel his anger properly. Resigning has done no good to him and to the team.

But then, no one knows what happened during the Senate committee’s meeting.

    Still, we love you Younis!

  3. It is very sad that Younis Khan wants to resign, he has been so good and the team was improving and getting together and this is because of the good captaincy. All the pakistani people former and present cricketers should join together and protest this disgusting statement from Dasti.

I am not from pakistan, but I support them because they are muslims and good.

    Younis Khan please don’t leave!

  4. Pakcricfan says:

Goodness what a waste ! I agree with younis there is no point in wasting time and effort on Pakistan cricket where a fellow becomes a person of authority and asks questions about your commitment.
Younis should take this fellow to court to prove his claims .

  5. Waqas Mir says:

What’s new or unique about it? This is not the first time … The heros of Pakistan, may it be in sports or science, have always been maltreated. If the nation cannot recognize a gem like Dr. Abdul Salam … first Nobel Laureate of Pakistan (the only one from Pakistan) and Muslim world (in science) … cricket is no big deal. Our people need to change their mindset. Being jealous or opportunistic as Mr. Dasti seems to be in this case won’t help.

  6. Fahad says:

After long time, I think every Pakistani can feel that a new, strong and young team is in making. These allegations will not do any good to the cricket team but it will surely effect Younis Khan’s captaincy and players confidence.

  7. khurshid says:

Younis Khan has done the right thing. He has self repect and parliamentarians should have better things to do than call for explanations from a team who performed so well in the past.

His resignation should not be accepted, and he should be requested to continue as Captain.

  8. Ijaz Ahmed Sheikh says:

Shame on Dasti. In my opinion, he has been blaming the cricketers just to be in the news! What proof does he have for the ridiculous allegations against our team who managed to reach semi-finals? Dasti must be made accountable for his strange utterings without substance. NA Committees, especially their chairpersons, must learn to behave responsibly. As for Younis, PCB must not accept his resignation & let the build-up of our team continue under Younis guidance.

  9. Nadman says:

Though I believe that allegations of match fixing are fake and unfounded, but Younis Khan has made the right choice by resigning. In this day and age of competition, the captain has to lead from the front and be a achieving member of the team like Ricky Ponting, Smith and Vettori. I am surprised to hear that he retired because his performance was being affected. Younis Khan is an excellent and positive player, but I think its Time for him to retire honorably without negative statements. Perfect scenerio would have been to go out positivly without negative and embarrasing statements. Long Live Pakistan Team..They are the or can be the best in the game..

  10. hassan s says:

Younis khan should grow up… its high time he realises that if he wants the pakistani captaincy he will have to face the music. you cant resign every time some one annoys you. you have to stand up and take the heat!

start performing with the bat so you can throw back the accusations at everyone.

This is Pakistan. Sadly, we would be lying to ourselves if we said we didnt expect people to throw match fixing accusations at the team after our loss.

Try and fill the shoes of the cricketers Pakistan has loved. Wasim Akram would’ve stopped playing cricket a very long time ago if he let allegations hurt him.

You’re captaining one of the greatest sides ever to play the game! Dont forget that younis.

    Pakistan Zindabad!

  11. Wamiq Ansari says:

In my opinion, Dasti hurts Pakistan Cricket. We had just started to enjoy better cricket from our players.

While Parliamentary Committee is important to keep a check on cricketing afairs, Dasti seems to have lost it alltogether. He seems to be on some witch hunt.

  12. Bilal says:

I think pakistan cricket team still needs the captain like younis khan who is mentally strong on the field. However he lacks to handle the situations faced by him off the field. If he is not involved in the match fixing allegations then he should courageously face media and should back himself and his team. Moreover chairman of the cricket board should ask him to ponder his decision again as it would be in the interest of millions of fans and this nation.

  13. Murtaza Jamal says:

Since he has nothing to hide, he should not have resigned; unforutnately, doing so may give more impetus to the allegations.

  14. ahmed says:

I am disgusted, i am angry, i can not believe it. Does Dasti have a shred of evidence? we want younis khan back and we want him back right now to lead pakistan. thats it.

  15. TheBigDaddy says:

Younis is a great captain…..our people are so impatient and emotional….one loss and they start looking for a scapegoat. I think if there is any player worthy of leading the team in the next world cup its Younis. Change the captain now and Pakistan can kiss away its chances of winning the world cup.

Forget the NZ, AUS series. I think the board should be planning for the next world cup. What if Afridi doesnt perform as a captain in the AUS, NZ series? What will we do then when we will have no time left before the World Cup?

Besides, Younis is a good leader. Sacking him would be a big mistake, especially at this juncture…

  16. Ali Danish Malik says:

Does anybody know if Mr. Dasti has provided any proofs. It’s a norm that whenever pakistan loses people back home put match fixing blaims. Cricket is un-predictable and any team can win on a particular days. On top of it, we are not World No. 1 that our loss should be that surprising. Its just a game Mr. Dasti!

Moreover, Younis has impressed a lot with his captaincy. He should get matured to take the criticism as well. If i’m not wrong this is only the latest in several resignitions as a captain. He should stay calm and answer people with his captaincy and better performance. This is lame younis! Pakistan needs you and but you should perfrom better too.

  17. I do not agree with Mr. Dasti. But I request our beloved Captain Mr. Younis Khan to leave One day cricket for someone else.

  18. Uzair javed says:

He is an asset for the national team and has got a lot of talent. He must continue but with all the due sincerity and honesty, one that his country and team require of him.

  19. Najib says:

Tough call, even though match allegations are seriously stupid, Younis did make some mistakes as well. First, Mohammad Asif bowled brilliantly against the champions Australia and still ended up not playing in the semis, I really thought Mohammad Asif – Mohammad Aamer combo would have been the most devastating bowling combo since Asif – Akhtar combo. Secondly, Younis should have to realize whatever Umar Gul did in the T20 is the past, Gul have not transformed himself from T20 mode to Test or ODI mode and is being taken apart by every single team. Thirdly, Umar Akmal should be coming earlier than Yousuf or Malik and Malik or Yousuf should be axed and bring back Fawad Alam who is capable to play well for his country. And Finally and the utmost, even though it was brave of Younis to come and play while being injured even against India, if he was not fit he should have just stayed out, Younis’s own batting figures were pathetic to say the least and dropped catch of Grant Elliot at a crucial time of the match summed up everything that he was just not match fit and yet he insisted on playing.

These few but most important issues has definitely not done any better for Younis and even though he is a better captain than Malik, I really believe we can find someone better than him as well.

  20. Azher ghani says:

Its Shame, No Words… People like Dasti can do anything just to achieve temporary fame.. If there is evidence then bring it to public and justify that younus or anyone in the team has committed the grave crime… If its Dasti then he be punished and if its any member of the team then they should be punished…. But its the matter of pride and the truth should be known to the public and cannot be hidden under the carpet any more.. The Media has to play a positive and mature role like in any other independent country…

  21. majid javed says:

very very sad day for pakistan cricket,i thought the team showed signs of improvement and even after winning t20,pak team went into champions trophy as underdogs but still reach semi finals.

wish pak team all the best

  22. Syed Ali Mehdi says:

What Younis did is right! It is one who let others know how horrendous it is for our players to continue with the PCB. The culprit should be taken to task. Players cannot always bring laurels. Defeat is a part of the game. However, Younis should take into account the fact that the team needs him and that he should now reconsider his decision to quit. I am sure that being a true patriot he will certainly think it over twice.

  23. Danish Bawla says:

Now lets ask dasti to prove the allegations and if he cant he should be told to resign.

  24. Dan says:

There’s no smoke without fire, else why should someone resign in the face of allegations? Its only if the allegations are true that they would rankle a conscientious sportsperson like Younis and that is what prompted this step, I guess.

  25. Zafar Ahmed says:

Mud slinging must be stopped on Pak cricketers, but every one got the right to ask questions on the team’s performance !

    1. The field placing on the last ball of the match against Australia, wicket keeper should have come close to the stumps to stop the single
2.Why the captain was afraid to bat at one down, which was his original position.
    3.Why he played with injury?
    4. Why he dropped a dolly catch?
    5. Why Fawad Alam was not given a chance to open for a failed Imran Nazeer?
