The list is long and the task daunting but here goes in no particular order – root out corruption and put real accountability in place, impelment real education reforms at every level from primary to PhD levels, enact real land reforms, seriously stem the uncontrolled population growth, increase the tax collection manifold, find a way to bring back the original values of the people of this area and root out the foreign extremist ideologies systematically spread over the last 30 years.

There are two most important issues need to be dealt with today:
    1. Unity among the nation to create a nationalism that does not exist today. That is a job for a very strong leader.

Successful nations have long term strategy to manage and run their countries, we have short term tactics (almost an hourly based) to manage the country. Three things can change Pakistan for the better, 1- Have a strategy and direction, 2- Competent people at the decision making positions, 3- not just Education but a better education system (your current budget for education is 5 billion Rs out of 2700+ billion budget).

    8. Respect and safeguard the rights of minorities.
    9. Allow only people with clean records to fight elections.

    5. Improving our current tax system on more tax on rich and relief on poor. Currently its other way around.

6 Law and Order, very important, by police must be equip with modern machinery and weapons and also by making a chamber of Scholors from all Sects (Shia, Sunni etc) in the religious Ministry so we have one unique ruling against any thing.

    • Sudhir says:

I love the passion with you say “Kashmir is ours”. Wonder if you could see the other sides perspective and realize that your nebouring secular nation via its constitution grants equal rights to all its citizens and its citizens find it bizare that a part of its country could be given away just because in that particular area there is a majority of people who follow same religion as yours.

      • Adeel says:

Its not because ‘people follow the same religion’, its because the rules established by British Raj at the time of partition were not followed in the Kashmir state.

By the same token when Nizam of Hyderabad joined Pakistan, India stormed the state and annexed it in a military action …. Why was Hyderabad annexed into India ‘just because the people there followed the same religion as rest of India? If that argument is valid then Pakistan has every right to support Kashmiris.

If Hyderabad was taken because the populace there wanted to join India then by the same token populace in Kashmir wants to join Pakistan.

If India had not made it a pride issue and had dealt with it honestly we would have been peaceful neighbors all this time, progressing economically.

To improve the ‘halaat’ in Pakistan, much awareness is needed. The basic step would be to have corruption-free leaders and to implement a good tax system in the country given that the masses also pay. Further use the money from the tax in the betterment of Pakistan and help create jobs for the “awaam”.
A lot of education, awareness, job opportunities and better monthly salaries are needed to have a Better Pakistan.
