Osama is Dead: You have to have your say

Osama Bin Laden had become a house hold name post 9/11. He will also probably go down in history as the most popular “Most Wanted” personality of all times. Now that the tall and lanky, 60 something man carrying around a kidney dialysis machine in his old age is dead, will the World become a safer place?

Irrespective of who you are and where you’re from, this man has probably impacted your life in both subtle and obvious ways. The acts of this man and his followers have put Muslims around the World and especially in Pakistan, in a very precarious situation. There is no doubt about the fact that the death of Osama Bin Laden marks a significant achievement for the “War against terror”. However, the manner in which Osama has been killed and the place where he was finally discovered raises many awkward questions for Pakistan.

As long as Osama Bin Laden has been in the news, you’ve heard different stories about him, his motives, his sinister plans and what not. What are your thoughts on Osama bin Laden, his life, his death and the likely aftermath of all the events that have taken place leading up to his death. Has justice been delivered or has the World paid too heavy a price for the “Most Wanted” man of all times?

The most dreadful terrorist in the world lived only 100 km away from Pakistan’s capital and within 800m of the top defence establishment. How is it possible to have escaped notice of ISI.It is obvious that ISI was sheltering Osama Bin Laden.Comment from India is correct-Pakistan harbours terrorists willingly. And not to speak about USA bypassing Pakistan totally in this operation. It is real source of violation of Pakistan’s dignity and severeignity.

    • Ayesha says:

on the other hand!!! US found this area “safe” for themselves to “create this fake” story!!!

      • Vivek says:

@Ayesha: Are you suggesting that the Pakistani govt, military and public are a bunch of fools who were caught napping while America planned the whole operation and air dropped Osama into Pakistan?! Or are you suggesting that the explosions heard in Attotabad, the visuals captured were all about the American and Pakistani forces celebrating Diwali?! I simply cant believe that you guys can be so delirious, cant wait to hear Zaid Hamid’s eye witness account!!!! :P

  2. Joseph K says:

Now that Osama is dead, team “ISI” can sit pondering what else will get them Kashmir, soon terror as a tool to capture Kashmir is dead with Osama, Pakistans economy is in shambles, like the maharaja of Kashmir who decided to join the Indian union i ask all feelow pakistanis we indians will run pakistan better than u, we’ll ensure 10% Growth, jobs, roads, health care eta.’
All you got to do is forget partition, Jinnah and recal the day prefactoto 1947.
    Come lets be One world.

    • SD says:

Sorry Joseph. I don’t concur with your view regarding partition. parttion is a fact and it can’t be undone now. Let Pakistan struggle with its own destiny.

  3. nsharma says:

Not even a primary school child will believe if the Pak govt says that it did not know about Osama living in their own country! People of Pakistan are cursed. They do not have to think that their enemy is from outside the country. The enemy is with in. Its government, its politicians, its army and its ISI. God help them.

  4. Sam says:

i’m surprised everyone believes in these lies that have been told for ages & ages..God only knows if there was ever an ‘Osama’ in the first place. He is just a creation of the so called super powers just to have control over various regions etc.. now suddenly ‘osama’ is dead, just like that..wow unbelievable, crap is all that it sounds like… oh wait now that libya is more important who cares about osama and pakistan anymore. They just needed a reason to be destructive and reign a region with their supreme powers….. thats all whats it about and will always be and here u ignorant people r arguing about how good it all is or how well they did or how pakistan is a terrorist state blah blah..Its all total crap and we r all ignorant to the bigger game plan here..sad indeed!!!!

  5. Trust this becomes decisive moment for Pakistan which awakes the entire Pakistanis to demolish the Terror Factory within its own territory. Today the entire world is waiting eagerly to find how the ISI and Pak Government counter this situation. High time….Prove yourselves or Perish.

  6. khan says:

i don’t believe simply.this is a drama to legitimate the us withdraw from Afghanistan because they suffer tremendous losses there.they lost their war against Taliban.

  7. Mohamed .shoib says:

I think the truth behind Osama who he was is buried with his death.it looks like a big drama where Osama was merely an act of this film. revelation or the climax is still to be completed.was there any Osama or just a character in the first place?…

  8. papatango says:

    too little too late……

  9. SMACK says:

I could not understand that how people of the whole world are so unwise that can’t understand simple formula that “this is not about hatred, but it’s all about HAVE OR HAVE NOT”. Unless the world ensure equality in all nations, peace cannot be prevailed. One must have known that what he is getting in developed country is must be getting other man in the underdeveloped part of the World.
    But who cares this rule…!!

  10. Raza says:

Just a theory, but how do you know that Osama was in Pakistan all along? Is it really that hard to take him there and execute him and put Pakistan in a tight spot? Is it really that inconceivable? I for one do not believe anything that is sprouted at us…we are like sheep, so very easily herded…it took them ten years just to find one man on a dialysis machine? come off it! Just like the absent WMD’s…its all part of the plan

  11. Omair Ahmed says:

Deadbody of Bin Laden Thrown in the sea……….if its true that US army has thrown a body in the sea then there is something fishy in the operation. The body should have been shown to the media or to the security agencies of Pakistan. This is a big fish in small pond…….Our security agencies need to look into it in detail…..

  12. Asif says:

Dead or not, the real question is, now what ?!
will conditions worsen, like more sanctions and being abused in our own country?!
or has that also been bartered out?!

  13. ArZ says:

When kasab was caught in Mumbai… it was blamed on non state actors…. a convinient way out!.. Who is to be blamed now?? Hope Pak will not tell ISI did not know about his existenice under their nose. If they do, then they will lose what ever remaining respect they have!

  14. Sufi Shah Inayat says:

Bin Ladin is still alive in the form of ISI and corrupt Pakistani Military, which killed so many innocent people including Benazir & Bugti. War against terrorism will not be successful untill the destruction of these mercenaries. USA should stop support Pakitani military for the sake of world peace.

    • audrey says:

Well, this is a golden chance to abolish the institution of the ISI. Pakistanis should realise that this monster is responsible for a lot of what ails their country today. The sooner they get rid of this, the better.

  15. Khubaib Bajwa says:

That ultimate irony ; born in the dessert, lived in the mountains and is now buried at sea!

  16. Faraz says:

Its good he is dead. I blame the ISI and the Army for hiding him. Pasha should resign since either he was hiding him along with kayani or he and the ISI/Army are incompetent. And for those who are wondering i am a Pakistani.

  17. acmal says:

war on terror is not end its should be just beginning. The country and military that sheltered him must dismantle. other wise terrorist will reorganise with the help of this country. they may get even nuclear.

  18. Saddened says:

Sad news for the ones who do not accept the US’s hegemony in this region and the world. The US has become a force of destruction and terror, and they met their match.

  19. Chen says:

The Pakistani military must be careful.. “you reap what you sow.” It’s time to stop sowing (and cuddling) terrorism.

  20. SR says:

Do you really think that this stops the so called “war on terrorism”. On the contrary, US is irritated and wants to open a new war front – namely Pakistan. Well, well, well. Just like bush said “Bring it on”…

  21. Thann says:

I am an Indian and naturally feel elated at the news. But I feel sorry for my Pakistani brothers (the educated crowd..). As a Pakistani they naturally have to support their Army/ISI establishment. But they can only conspiracy theories to help them in argument. And honestly I would have done the same in their place.

  22. ArZ says:

How can Pak allow such huge embarrassments of hosting such dreaded people on its soil? Now does any body have a question on why it is looked down upon by the rest of the world?

  23. tk says:

How many innocent people and Afghanis died for this one man? An excuse for a continuing war in their country….when they could have captured him in the first place years and years ago. When the Bush administration evaded capturing him in the first place.
Why now? Don’t get me wrong- I am anti terrorism etc after all, Al qaeda introduced suicide bombing to both Afghanistan and Pakistan which were non-existent before and which is anti-Islamic – it’s just that it’s impossible not to be ”found” nowadays when practically everyone is being spied on.
It’s not like he was a needle in a haystack!

    • Sandip says:

It is the help of pakistani ISI that evaded laden’s capture from US force.

      • tk says:

No you need to check your facts: check out any reputable news sources and you will discover that both Clinton and Bush evaded/avoided capturing Osama bin Laden even when they had clear, sightings of him. How odd

  24. Atif says:

I think he should have been captured alive, so we could be able to know the truth which we now will never be found.
Secondly it is a mind set which can not be changed with the death of Osama we will have to change the mindset also with the policies

    • Wendy says:

I agree with that – death is an easy way out and he is now viewed as a marter to his cause. Answers should have been given!

  25. Ismael Khan says:

Karzai was right. Pakistan sheltered Osama , he was living in Abbottabad less than 50 miles from Islamabad
Americans raided the compound with the tacit approval of Pakistan’s defence authorities. Few millions more $ on the way to shore up Zardari’s regime.
